Our school was founded on a generous gift.
In 1666, Sir Thomas Rich, a Gloucester born merchant and Member of Parliament, left money in his will to establish a school that would give young people the best possible start in life through education. More than 350 years later, we like to think that Sir Thomas would be incredibly proud of the countless number of Richians, staff and parents who have worked tirelessly to preserve his legacy.
We have our motto – Garde Ta Foy (translated from its Latin roots, Keep the Faith) and our mindset - The Tommy’s Way. The former inspires our aspirations; the latter shapes the way we work. Through this we seek to develop excellence, integrity, commitment, and kindness; we celebrate character as well as talent. For us, the little things (saying good morning, holding a door open, picking up litter, looking out for each other) are just as important as our exceptional academic and extracurricular achievements. This is what makes our school so special.
Our ability to do all this comes with heartfelt gratitude.
For decades, the generosity of parents, alumni and friends has enabled us to go far beyond what government funding can provide. With costs rising and budgets under pressure, your support is more vital than ever. By setting up a regular monthly gift, you will directly help us maintain the breadth and depth of opportunity that defines a Rich’s education.
There is, of course, no expectation for any parent to contribute. Our message is simple, if you can and wish to support us in this way, no matter what the donation may be, the School Community both now and in the future will be enormously grateful.
