Supporting ambition, achievement and opportunity through The 1666 Fund

Sport is an integral part of life at Sir Thomas Rich’s School. We are proud of our strong sporting tradition and the opportunities we provide for pupils to develop their talents, represent the school and compete at local, regional and national levels.

Sport plays a vital role in developing confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership. However, delivering the breadth and quality of sporting opportunities available to our pupils would not be possible without the generosity of our school community and the support of the 1666 Fund.

How the 1666 Fund Supports Sport

  • Government funding does not cover the full costs of our extensive sporting programme. Donations to the 1666 Fund help bridge this gap by supporting:
  • Specialist sports coaching: Funding additional experienced coaches who bring expertise, enthusiasm and valuable opportunities for pupils to develop their skills. This year, we are delighted to have appointed two new netball coaches, strengthening our netball provision and providing further opportunities for pupils to benefit from specialist coaching.
  • Transport to sporting fixtures: Helping cover the significant costs of travelling to matches, tournaments and competitions, ensuring our teams can represent the school and compete against schools across the country.
  • Sports equipment and resources: Purchasing essential equipment, training resources and kit to support high-quality coaching, training and competitive opportunities.
  • A broad and ambitious sporting programme: Supporting the additional costs of providing a wide range of sporting opportunities, enabling pupils of different abilities and interests to participate, develop and achieve their potential.

Your Support Makes the Difference

Every donation to the 1666 Fund helps us provide sporting opportunities that government funding alone cannot support.

Your generosity directly benefits our pupils and helps us maintain the high standards of sport at Sir Thomas Rich’s School.

Help us continue to give every pupil the opportunity to participate, compete and achieve their potential.
