At Rich’s, preparing pupils for life beyond school is central to our mission. The 2024–25 academic year has seen the Careers Programme grow in both scale and impact, providing pupils with opportunities to explore pathways, connect with employers and universities, and gain the confidence to make informed choices about their futures.
A highlight of the year was the annual Careers Fayre in January 2025 — the biggest in the School’s history. More than 45 companies filled the main hall, while 30 universities exhibited in the sports hall, giving pupils a chance to explore a wide variety of options. The event was described as the “busiest yet,” reflecting both the enthusiasm of our pupils and the strong relationships the School has built with employers and higher education providers.
Careers education has also been woven into everyday school life. In February 2025, Year 8 pupils began exploring their interests and work patterns, thinking about how to showcase their personal strengths and beginning early careers research. Year 12 students have been supported through enrichment work on apprenticeships, alternatives to university, and practical sessions on personal statement writing. These sessions complement the programme of employer talks, alumni mentoring and application workshops that run throughout the year.
Beyond events and lessons, the Careers Programme helps pupils develop the skills needed to thrive in any future pathway: communication, self-awareness, resilience and ambition. By engaging with universities, training providers and employers, pupils are better equipped to make confident choices about their next steps — whether towards higher education, apprenticeships or the workplace.
