After another year of competitive and highly enjoyable House events, congratulations go to Southgate House for winning the trophy, with just two points in it between first place and the runners-up, Westgate. House Captains Ellie and Arjun are pictured here raising the Cup with great pride in the Quad at the end of term.

The overall points tally was:

• 1st place – Southgate (172 points)
• 2nd place – Westgate (170 points)
• 3rd place – Newgate (161 points)
• 4th place – Eastgate (147 points)
• 5th place – Northgate (134 points)

Well done to all the pupils who have put themselves forward to represent their Houses this year.

Historical note:

We think this isn’t the original Cock House Cup – this fine piece of silverware was originally the House Athletics Cup, which has been repurposed as the overall winning House trophy. It was engraved with winners up until 1931, with no further winners being added until 2013. It’s also interesting to note that as well as the usual Eastgate and Westgate Houses appearing on the older engravings, a West Country House and East Country House are also shown – can any Old Richians shed any light?

Newgate House: 

For any alumni unfamiliar with our newest House, Newgate was added to the line up a few years ago to cope with the demands of a five-form intake, and its official colour is royal purple.
