Year 13 Mentors Say Goodbye

The programme has been designed to help our newest pupils settle in and become part of the school community.

In April, our Year 7 and Year 13 pupils met in the Sixth Form Centre for their final mentoring session, bringing to a close a supportive partnership which has run throughout the academic year. To mark the occasion, Year 7 pupils had spent time in tutor sessions creating thoughtful thank-you cards for their Year 13 mentors. These were shared during the final meeting, alongside some well-earned sweet treats, making for a warm and memorable send-off.

As our Year 13 students turned their attention to their upcoming public examinations, this felt like a fitting moment to reflect on the impact of the programme. Over the year, it has provided a valuable opportunity for our newest pupils to connect regularly with older students in a friendly, relaxed environment. These sessions have offered space to talk about school life, ask questions, and share any concerns, helping Year 7 pupils grow in confidence, settle into routines, and feel part of the wider school community.

For Year 13 mentors, the experience has been equally rewarding. It has developed their leadership and communication skills, while giving them a meaningful way to support younger pupils and contribute to school life before moving on to their next steps.

We are incredibly proud of the maturity, kindness and commitment shown by all pupils involved.
