An outstanding £5,370.57 was raised during this year’s Founders’ Fortnight, which took place in March. The amount is a testament to the commitment and generosity shown by pupils from across all year groups; students in 10C took the top form prize this year by raising an impressive £508.18, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and determination. Newgate took the top House laurels with a remarkable £980.23 raised.
Founder's fundraising activity continues a strong tradition at the School, going back decades, and was set up to pay forward the original ethos of the school, when Sir Thomas Rich left money in his will in 1666 to establish a school for 20 poor boys from Gloucester. In that spirit, we raise money for our link school, PMM Girls' School in Uganda, throughout the school year, donating funds to support several of its pupils in their education.
Founder's Week, as it was originally known, expanded to a fortnight a few years back; we had so many forms and pupils keen to take part, it wasn't possible to stage all the initiatives (anything from tuck shops to pupils v staff basketball to pop-up casinos) in just five days!
If alumni have any memories or photos of Founder's Week in times past, we would love to hear from you: contact the Marketing and PR Director Sara Vielvoye on sjv@strs.org.uk.
